Dr. Mac Shaibe is the President of Vermont Database Corporation. Dr. Shaibe has had significant positions in academia, government and the private sector. He is a co-inventor of the Internet, having co-authored for DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Project Agency) in 1967 the design of the Inter-University Computer Network that became the Internet. Dr. Shaibe has also been involved throughout his career in the development of public policy. He served as Director of Standards at the Bureau of Labor Statistics, provided high-level consultation services to the United Nations on a variety of issues, and served as the Chief Advisor on Science Policy to the Prime Minister of Israel. Dr. Shaibe has held positions at George Washington University, American University, and MIT. He received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Muenster in Germany.
John is a founder and Chief Technical Officer of VDC. John has over 32 years of experience in computing. His interests include operating systems and languages, database systems, and, as a professional musician, digital recording and audio manipulation techniques. John has worked with a variety of clients developing accounting, statistical and securities applications, embedded systems, scripting languages, email, telephony, and medical records systems. John also enjoys using and teaching C++, Java, and object-oriented programming techniques.
